I like quick and easy football game day food ideas. Brownies definitely fit the bill, especially because my favorite brownies come from a bronwie mix. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Sidenote: My family loves Ghirardelli’s Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix.

How to make a football shaped brownie:
You don’t need a special baking pan. A round cake pan will do the trick. I used a 9-inch round cake pan to bake one pouch of Ghirardelli’s brownie mix.
One thing I highly recommend doing is to line the cake pan with aluminum foil. Then, spray the aluminum foil with nonstick cooking spray. Finally, pour the prepared brownie mix into the pan to bake. I do this so that I can lift the entire circle brownie out of the pan without worries it will break or stick to the pan.
Bake your brownie in the cake pan according to recipe/package directions. It took my brownie about 35 minutes to bake completely. Once the brownie is done, carefully lift it out of the cake pan (by pulling up on the aluminum foil) and allow it to cool completely.
Once the brownie is cool, you are ready to cut it. It should easily come away from the foil. Now, you are ready to cut it into a football shape. Grab a sharp knife and read on to see how to do it.
Here is where to use a sharp knife to make the two cuts in the round brownie:
See the strip of brownies left in the middle? That is not going to be part of the big football brownie. Don’t worry, though, I have plans for it. So just set it aside for the time being.
Take the top and bottom part of the brownie and put it together on the plate you plan to serve it on. Voila! You have made a football shaped brownie.
How to add the white frosting laces
Now you are ready to add the white icing laces to the football. I used a flat cake decorator tip for the big brownie. For the smaller brownies and strawberries, I piped the white icing laces with a small circular tip. You can find both cake decorating tips along with decorating bags and everything else you need in this Wilton decorator set. Or, you can buy the tips separately.
This football brownie is going to look so cute when you serve it, and it’s going to taste delicious!
Remember that leftover middle strip of brownies? Here is where you can make them cute, too. I simply cut them into rectangle shapes and piped white icing laces on top of them, too. I served them all together on a large serving platter, along with chocolate dipped strawberries with white icing laces.
So, to sum it all up, to make a big Football Brownie like this one, you will need:
- Your favorite Brownie Mix (mixed and baked according to package directions)
- 9-inch Round Cake Pan
- Your favorite White Frosting
- Cake Decorator Tips
- Aluminum Foil
- Nonstick Cooking Spray
- Sharp Knife
Your football shaped brownie is ready to serve! Enjoy!
