Five Scrumptious Chocolate Cake in a Jar Recipes

Baking a single-serving size cake in a jar is a genius idea! I think they are perfect for serving at parties, giving as homemade gifts or just eating on your own at home…once all the kids are in bed, of course – because these goodies look so yummy you won’t want to share. I was even lucky enough to find a vegan-friendly recipe.  (You can view the recipes at the source listed in the caption underneath each photo.)

Which one of these five scrumptious chocolate cake in a jar recipes tempts you the most?

Cool Sled Dog Pictures

I live in Alaska, where it is not an unusual winter sight to see a local sled dog team traveling on a snowy trail alongside the highway.  We love seeing these amazing dogs at work.

Pretty on Pinterest Weekly Meme: Diamonds

The Pretty on Pinterest weekly meme theme is Diamonds.  I wanted to pin some of the world’s most famous and valuable diamonds. Many of the beautiful gems I found have an interesting history (one of the following diamonds even carries a CURSE!).

You can find the name of each diamond and read a little bit about it in the descriptions below the pictures.

If you are a blogger and want to link up to this week’s Pretty on Pinterest Diamond themed meme, head over to Sassy Mama in LA or Simply Stacie.  Or you can check the list you find there to go to even more bloggers’  posts pinning diamonds.  It’s fun to read every blogger’s different take on the theme.  Next week’s theme will be Winter.

I hope you enjoy looking at these pretties!  Please feel free to leave a comment – what do you think about a weekly Pinterest meme?

THE HOPE DIAMOND

No, Titanic fans, this familiar diamond was not part of The Heart of the Ocean necklace that Leo (Jack) gave to Kate (Rose).  But, the Hope Diamond was the inspiration for that necklace.  This sapphire heart diamond necklace was once worn by King Louis XIV of France. You can visit The Hope Diamond at the Natural History Museum in Washington, DC.

The Millenium Star

The name of this diamond sounds like a jewel out of Star Wars, but in reality, this gem is part of De Beers’ Millenium Jewels collection. The Millenium Star is a ‘D’ colour, flawless pear-shaped stone weighing 203.04 carats.

The Koh-i-noor

Here’s the cursed diamond I was telling you about. The Koh-i-noor was mined in India (around the 1200s) and its long history is associated with murder, mayhem and controversy. The diamond is said to carry a curse for any male who possesses it. Women are immune to the curse. All of the men who have owned the diamond have suffered bad fortune and/or lost their throne. Nowadays, the diamond is possessed by the British Royal Crown and is handed down to the spouse anytime there is a male monarch.

The Cullinan Diamond aka Star of Africa

Here’s what priceless looks like. It is also the biggest diamond ever discovered at 3,106.75 carats in the rough. Of course, a diamond like this is fit for a queen and is currently part of the British Royal collection.

The Centenary

This 599 carat (in the rough) diamond is not only huge, but is perfect in color. Mined in 1988 by De Beers.  Beautifully cut!
