I have four children, which means we have owned a great many car seats over the past decade. Every time I had a baby, I got a little pickier about the car seat I wanted to buy. Past experience had taught me what car seat features I liked best, plus I always wanted to get the safest car seats available on current market.

After lots of research on car seats and car seat safety, I purchased Chicco’s #1-rated KeyFit® infant car seat for my youngest two children. I love the Chicco brand so much that I always recommend it to family and friends. [Read more...]

Expert Tips To Keep Kids Safe Around Medicine

One of my earliest childhood memories involves me being taken to the ER because I had opened a “childproof” bottle of little pink baby aspirins and started eating them. My mother panicked because she had no idea how many aspirins I had actually taken. I’m glad she took me straight to the doctor for help. I don’t remember much besides having to throw up in a hospital pan and feeling confused about what was going on.

Ever since that day, my mom was super diligent about keeping medications away from me and my siblings. And now that she is a grandma, she never misses an opportunity to remind me to put my medicines up where my children cannot get into them. I’m sure she would be happy if I kept medicines in a padlocked safe, but since that is not a realistic option, let’s take a look at some Expert Tips To Keep Kids Safe Around Medicine: [Read more...]

Tooth Fairy 101: DIY Tooth Fairy Pillows, Boxes, and Printables

Are you new to the Tooth Fairy Business? Losing a tooth is one of those sort-of-scary-but-exciting times your child will never forget! The basic Tooth Fairy tradition involves a child leaving a tooth under their pillow at bedtime so the Tooth Fairy can visit during the night and take the tooth, leaving money under the pillow in exchange.

The amount of money the Tooth Fairy pays per tooth is entirely up to you as the Tooth Fairy. Tooth Fairies should keep in mind that children will lose 20 baby teeth in their lifetime (so you may not want to set the bar high by leaving a $20 bill the first time your child loses a tooth). Most parents agree that $1 per tooth is a fair exchange rate that keeps parents (ahem, I mean Tooth Fairies) and kids happy without breaking the bank. [Read more...]
