Anytime a new smart phone or tablet is introduced, the whole world stops to take notice of the latest innovations in technology. I feel like women should give that same type of attention to the latest innovation in feminine products – the menstrual cup. Specifically, the Lunette Menstrual Cup. Women spend a significant portion of their lives dealing with the demands of a monthly period. So when a product comes along that completely changes the way we deal with our periods, we need to take note.
What is a Lunette Menstrual Cup? A small cup made from medical grade silicone that is a safe, hygienic, easy to use alternative to tampons and pads. The cup can is easily cleaned and reusable, which means ZERO WASTE. You can wear the cup for up to 12 hours, which means less time and hassle spent changing.
I want to let you know why I love my Lunette menstrual cup in hopes that you will open your mind to this new option in feminine protection. Yes, it’s different that the conventional products BUT I firmly believe that in this case, DIFFERENT IS BETTER.
My Lunette Menstrual Cup is the Selene (light blue) model. Each cup comes with a lovely satin carrying case (like mine pictured below):
Lunette menstrual cups are the only FDA-approved colored menstrual cups on the market today. The coloring is completely safe, and perfect for women like me, who like pretty options! The Lunette also comes in a clear color option as well as a beautiful green, purple and coral.
Lunette’s design is superior. I have tried other menstrual cups, and found that my Lunette cup has features that “fix” the problems I was having with my other menstrual cups:
- Smooth Rim – Makes the cup easier to insert
- A flat and flexible stem – Makes the cup easy to find and remove
- Dimensions – The Lunette is shorter than other cups, which makes it more comfortable to wear
- The Size 2 has a firm consistency – The firm consistency helps the cup pop open upon insertion
- Easy To Clean – larger air holes and smooth interiors clean easily
Practice makes perfect. Honestly, I did not have any issues getting my Lunette cup properly inserted from the very first time I used it. I think it is because the Lunette has a soft, flexible design that makes it easy to insert, and also because of my background experience using other menstrual cups. It’s important to be familiar with your body and how your female anatomy works so that you can have a positive experience using your Lunette cup. You will not feel anything when the cup is properly inserted.
No leaks! Every woman’s flow is different, so it takes time to figure out how often your Lunette cup needs to be emptied. Heavy flow days may mean your cup needs to be emptied every 2-3 hours. Light flow days may mean you can wait as long as 12 hours. Personally, I wear reusable cloth pantyliners if I am worried about leakage. The Lunette (properly inserted) will not leak. How to use the Lunette Menstrual Cup.
Economical. I don’t spend money on expensive tampons anymore. Enough said!
Ecofriendly. A reusable menstrual cup is a wonderful green choice! There is no waste from applicators, wrappers, packaging, pads, bio-waste, etc. My Lunette menstrual cup will last me for years before needing to be replaced.
Lunette Menstrual Cups come in 2 Models with different absorbencies. Model 1 is the recommended option for women with light to moderate flow, younger women or women who have never had intercourse. Model 2 is recommended for women who have a normal or heavier flow. Menstrual cups work differently from tampons and can hold a greater volume (see comparison).
Convenient. Life is busy and I love that when I use a Lunette menstrual cup, I don’t have to slow down just because I am on my period. My family is active and on-the-go quite a bit. I can easily bring my Lunette with me anywhere we go because it is small and hardly takes up any space at all. I don’t have to worry about frequent changes, which is especially nice when we are out in the middle of a lake boating or enjoying a game at the ballpark.
I could go on and on about how much easier dealing with my period is now that I use a Lunette menstrual cup. I have found a product I love to use and want to share the news with all women. It truly is a life-changing experience.

It might be awhile until Have a period but I would like to try it once I do…
I want to try one because tampons scare me. they are dangerous. also i already use cloth pads so i would like to try and go even greener with the menstrual cup.
I have just recently heard about Lunette menstraul cup and I would love to try it before spending $39.99. I have lots of issues that people have posted and would like something without the chemicals and problems that come along with it.
I like the idea that it is eco friendly and healthy for me too
I’ve been toying with the idea of trying one of these for a while, but never really gotten to it. We’re in the process of switching from disposable anything to reusable everything at our home, and feminine products just seem like the logical next step.

I think it is a healthier option.
I have read about it a lot lately, would like to try it to compare to the Diva Cup that I have used. I also like that they come in colors!
I’ve read about the menstral cup idea and wanted to try it and see if it works for me.
I want to try it because I dont like using tampons and pads are out of the question. I want to try something new are more economical.
I want to try one so I can save money on menstrual supplies.
I believe it is much healthier.
I’ve wanted to try a greener alternative for a really long time but been scared to take the plunge and try a cup! I already use the disposable cups which are great but I want to be greener for myself & the environment.
I’ve tried the Diva Cup, but can seem to get it to sit comfortably. I’d like to try the Lunette to see if I can get a comfortable fit with a menstrual cup!
because i havent tried a cup yet, the upfront cost is a bit difficult right now
I’ve wanted to try a cup for awhile but have heard negative things from friends. The Lunette website did discuss some of the things I have heard. It would be nice to find a cheaper and healthier alternative to tampons.
I would like to try the cup because It is a healthier option and it will help the environment by reducing waste.
Thank you!
I like the idea that is eco friendly

I bought disposable menstrual cups but I’d like to have this kind.
This is all new to me! Why Not!
I want an eco friendly alternative to tampons
would love this~!
I loooove my Cuppy and want to get some of my girlfriends to try it~
I have owned a Lunette Menstrual cup for a while, and love spreading the word about them to all the women I know. I have a friend who cannot afford a menstrual cup (especially as high quality as the Lunette menstrual cup), so if I win I would LOVE to be able to send one to her for free! <3 Lunette!
I want to try a Lunette because, while I was pleased with the other brand I tried before having my son, post-pregnancy that brand no longer worked well for me.

I’d love to win a Lunette menstrual cup because I’ve never tried a menstrual cup and they’re a little pricy for something I might not like. As for why I want to try a menstrual cup in the first place, after giving birth to two children, I’ve found that tampons just don’t fit me as well as they used to without leaking. I’m up for something new.
I would love to try the Lunette because I have erratic periods. I have menorrhagia, and I have been researching menstrual cups for nearly a year, (August of last year) and I have determined that small lunette would be perfect for me.
I’m a student with an erratic schedule and a tight budget and it really would mean the world to me if i won the lunette cup.
I’d like to try this to green our household a little bit more

I’m a cosmetology student and I’m always on my feet, so it’s difficult finding time to run to the restroom to change in-between clients. And I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve had a few accidents because I didn’t make it to the rest room in time to change.
Would love to try a Lunettes.
I want to try a Lunette cup I want an eco-friendly option without more laundry.
I’d love to try lunette because I’m tired of having to buy tampons; I’d rather buy once for a very long time- same reason I cloth diaper!
I would like to try it!
I would love to save money!
I love lunette because of the eco friendliness!
Because I have “the other” menstrual cup and not satisfied with it. Plus just had my first baby, so need to buy the post-birth one.
I would love to try a luna cup!!! I’ve never used a cup, and really want to switch over! =)
I love my flannel pads and my sea sponge tampons but I have been wanting to try a cup!
I love the idea of a colored menstrual cup. Even when clean, the “clear” ones can appear dirty. Yuck!
I’m allergic to tampons
I would love to try a more earth and body friendly option for my period.
Im looking forward to trying something NEW like this!!!! I hate pads, and tampons are expensive. Im also hoping my heavy period days will be easier to manage with this!! Hoping to win!!!!
I have another brand of cup and while I use it every month, it’s not comfortable all the time (i.e. I can feel it). I’d love to try a different brand and see if it’s just my body or the cup!
I just bought a cup, but haven’t had a chance to use it, and I’m not sure it will be the best one for me. I’d like to have options!
I am really tired oh having to buy girlie products all the time. I can use that $$ for much better things
I would like to try this because I love that it eliminates waste!

Love to save money especially on not having to buy tampons!
I would like to try a cup for several reasons. First, to save money. Second, I will always be prepared. Third, it might help with problems I have. And fourth, it is better for the environment.
I have wanted to try one of these for a while now. I love that there is no waste going into a landfill from it. Yes, you do need to use water when cleaning this product, but I think the little water you use is better than filling a landfill with pads and tampons!
I’ve been wanting to try Lunette for a while, it’s been a year since we’ve been using cloth diapers and I’m ready to make the step for myself!
I want to try it because it would save me a lot of money

I would just like to try something new
My sister and I were talking about these the other day, so I’d love to have one to actually try; or maybe I would give it to her as a gift.
I love that these are so much more eco-friendly, and also more convenient than tampons!
I love that I could save money on feminine hygiene products by using this.
I’ve wanted to try one for a while to save money and waste less
I would like to try something new, tampons are so uncomfortable
I want to try the Lunette Menstrual Cup because it looks very useful!
I just want to let you know that I LOVE MY LUNETTE CUP! I have never tried a menstrual cup before, but I ordered Model 1 from Amazon, plus their wash, and wipes. This was my first period with it and I had no difficulty inserting or removing it. It does take some time to get used to removing it, but really it’s not a big deal. You’ll get in the groove with it, you just have to give it time and practice. I was a tampon user and the idea of the stem going inside was probably the biggest hurdle for me. It can’t get lost, so don’t worry about that. If you begin to panic, please try and relax, it will come out! Walk away from it and come back to it later. But, I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I can’t wait to tell EVERYONE!
Hi Suzanne! So glad you commented on this post. I feel the same way as you do…I LOVE my Lunette cup. I don’t miss tampons AT ALL and will never go back to using them, EVER. Thanks for your feedback, I’m sure it will be helpful to anyone reading this comment thread. – Nicole
